BO CITY, 18 October 2026 – Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has commended Sierra Leone’s security sector leadership for maintaining law and order and creating a peaceful environment. President Boakai said this on Sunday during a visit to Bo City. He said he observed a peaceful atmosphere while travelling from the Liberian border to the southern Sierra Leonean city and commended the security officials tasked with maintaining peace along the route. He stressed the need for strong security leadership and continued work to preserve peace.
The visit also gave security officials from neighbouring countries an opportunity to discuss ways to improve cooperation. Sierra Leone’s Inspector-General of Police, William Fayia Sellu, held a bilateral security engagement with his Liberian counterpart, Gregory W. Coleman, Inspector-General of Police of Liberia. The meeting followed the two countries’ efforts to deepen security cooperation.
Discussions included ways to promote international police co-operation, develop joint approaches to tackling transnational organised crime, and strengthen security along their common border. The officials also discussed ways to promote regional stability and counter new challenges that cross national boundaries.
The engagement showed the Sierra Leone Police and the Liberia National Police’s commitment to deepening professional ties. The two institutions aim to strengthen information-sharing and coordination amid security challenges affecting their countries and the wider region. *****
