In a move towards fostering international investment relations, Zeytini Gida Insaat Turizm Ithalat Ihracat Ltd, a prominent Turkish investment firm, made a courtesy visit to Her Excellency Ambassador Francess Virginia Anderson, PhD. This meeting was a follow-up to the recently held Investment and Trade Seminar in Istanbul, where the potential for collaboration between Turkey and Sierra Leone was first explored.
Zeytini Gida, based in Ankara, specializes in a diverse range of sectors, including import and export, particularly focusing on olive and food products. Their portfolio extends to construction projects, real estate development, contracting services, hotel management, and tourism. The company’s expertise positions them as a valuable partner for Sierra Leone’s development initiatives.
Leading the delegation, Mr. Ibrahim Ozturk expressed the firm’s enthusiasm for exploring investment opportunities in Sierra Leone. He highlighted that their visit was motivated by the positive outcomes of the Investment and Trade Seminar held in Istanbul in May. “Our primary objective is to identify and develop opportunities in Sierra Leone, particularly in the mining sector. We are keen to establish a partnership with the Sierra Leonean embassy and seek assurances regarding the protection of our investments,” Ozturk stated.
Ambassador Anderson warmly welcomed the visiting delegation, emphasizing Sierra Leone’s readiness to embrace genuine investors. She conveyed the government’s eagerness to attract investment as part of President Julius Maada Bio’s transformative policies aimed at advancing the nation’s economic landscape. The ambassador underscored key priority sectors for investment, including agriculture, human capital development, architecture, youth empowerment schemes, and technology.
“I am excited about the potential collaboration between our two nations. You are indeed welcome, and I look forward to seeing you in Sierra Leone,” Ambassador Anderson remarked, reinforcing the diplomatic commitment to fostering a conducive environment for foreign investment.
This visit not only signifies a step forward in Sierra Leone’s quest for foreign direct investment but also reflects the outcomes of the first Investment and Trade Seminar organized by the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ankara on May 30, 2025. This seminar was a landmark event, showcasing Sierra Leone as an attractive investment destination for Turkish investors and influential business leaders.
The engagement between Zeytini Gida and the Sierra Leonean government marks a promising development in international relations, with the potential to enhance economic growth and create job opportunities within Sierra Leone. As both parties explore the avenues for collaboration, the future looks promising for strengthening ties and fostering sustainable development in the region.
