Merhi Baydoun General Manager – HBS Africa.                    The late IPAM Student, Alie  Thullah

H. Baydoun & Sons (HBS), a leading dealer in power generation and industrial equipment, is facing serious allegations of negligence after the tragic death of a SATCOM employee named Alie.

Reports have emerged indicating that Alie was sent to one of HBS’s facilities to fix a Satellite installation, but has since been reported missing. Alarmingly, he never returned from the assignment, raising significant concerns about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

The company, which operates out of its headquarters at 4 Wilberforce Street, and has additional locations at 135E Wilkinson Road in Freetown, has been accused of attempting to conceal the incident. An insider from HBS has come forward with revelations that have shocked the local community, prompting demands for transparency and accountability from both the company and law enforcement authorities.

As the investigation progresses, the Sierra Leone Police have yet to make any arrests related to the case, which has left many in the community feeling frustrated and anxious. Family members of Alie have expressed their deep concerns regarding the police’s handling of the investigation, suggesting that there may be a compromise in the pursuit of justice. They fear that vital evidence may be overlooked, and the truth about Alie’s death may never come to light.

This tragic incident has sparked a broader dialogue about workplace safety and the obligations that companies have toward their employees, particularly in high-risk sectors, such as power generation and industrial operations. The community is calling for a thorough examination of HBS’s safety protocols and operational practices to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

As the situation continues to unfold, the demand for answers grows louder. The local community, alongside Alie’s family, is determined to seek justice and ensure that such an incident does not happen again. The spotlight remains on H. Baydoun & Sons, as they navigate the fallout from this disturbing event, with many eager to see how the investigation will unfold and what consequences may arise for those responsible.
