Sierra Leone's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Kabbah and Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad-Algeria

Algeria and Sierra Leone have reaffirmed their commitment to working together to maintain international peace and security, following their election as non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council for the 2024-2025 term.

The two countries have agreed to collaborate closely in a variety of areas, including energy and trade, agriculture, and education, to strengthen their relationship and contribute to global stability. The recent visit of Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Kabbah, to Algeria marked a significant step towards improving bilateral relations.

During his meeting with Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, the two leaders had fruitful discussions about how to strengthen cooperation and address common challenges. One of the main topics discussed at the meeting was the possibility of forming a joint business council to foster economic ties and promote investment opportunities between Algeria and Sierra Leone.

Both countries recognize the value of economic cooperation in promoting long-term development and are eager to explore opportunities for mutual growth and prosperity.

In addition to economic cooperation, Algeria and Sierra Leone are committed to collaborating on regional and international issues of common concern. The ministers discussed the current situation in the Gaza Strip and reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on justice and equality.

Furthermore, the two countries are looking into opportunities for collaboration in fields such as energy, industry, agriculture, education, and research. Algeria and Sierra Leone hope to improve their respective capabilities and contribute to the advancement of their societies by leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise.

Algeria and Sierra Leone, as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, have a unique opportunity to promote dialogue, cooperation, and conflict resolution on a global scale. Both countries are committed to upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law in their efforts to address complex challenges and promote global peace and security.

The meeting of Algeria and Sierra Leone’s foreign ministers demonstrates the two countries’ strong partnership and shared commitment to achieving common goals. Working together, Algeria and Sierra Leone have the potential to make a significant impact on the international community and contribute to a more peaceful and prosperous world for all.
