On March 12, 2025, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh of the Republic of Sierra Leone conducted a courtesy visit to the Port of Freetown, where he was warmly welcomed by Mr. Yankuba Askia Bio, the Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA). The visit aimed to provide the Vice President with an insight into the ongoing developments and operational activities at the port.

During the tour, Dr. Jalloh was escorted through various sections of the port facilities, allowing him to observe firsthand the significant efforts being made to enhance port operations. The Director General took the opportunity to explain the strategic initiatives implemented by the SLPHA, which are designed to improve efficiency, security, and the overall facilitation of trade.

One of the key highlights of the visit was the assessment of the port’s transit point, where Dr. Jalloh evaluated the logistics involved in the movement of goods. This visit underscored the government’s dedication to upgrading port infrastructure, which is critical for solidifying Sierra Leone’s status as a vital maritime hub in West Africa.

In his remarks, Dr. Jalloh praised the SLPHA leadership for their commitment to modernizing port operations and emphasized the government’s unwavering support in making the port an essential engine for economic growth and international trade in the region.
