The Sierra Leonean Pharmacy Board has released an important alert about the safety of some herbal drinks, specifically mentioning COCO SAMBA.

Concerning results from recent laboratory testing show that COCO SAMBA contains an excessive amount of Sildenafil Citrate, a powerful prescription medication used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and erectile dysfunction.

Sildenafil Citrate is normally taken in dosages of 50 to 100 mg; however, COCO SAMBA was discovered to contain an astounding 193 mg per bottle, placing users at serious risk.

Moreover, different concentrations of sildenafil citrate were also found in other herbal products, such as Olekoko Akson Bitters, Oga Abeg, and Good Time Natural Herbal Formula. Because an overdose of sildenafil citrate can cause serious side effects like a dangerous drop in blood pressure, headaches, dizziness, chest pain, and even painful and prolonged erections that could permanently damage the male reproductive system, the adulterant’s presence in these products poses a serious risk to public health.

The Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone fervently urges the public to stop using these dangerous products and to report any people or businesses involved in their distribution in light of these alarming findings. People are urged to exercise caution and notify the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone of any negative effects connected to these products or any other suspicious items.

The authorities can be reached at 099117117 or 073994830 if you have any information to share.
