Bockarie Abdel Aziz Bawoh, the recently appointed Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, took an oath of office at a sombre ceremony recently held at State House, presided over by President Dr. Julius Maada Bio. John Sumailah, the Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, presided over the ceremony, which included the Chief Minister and family members as well as other notable attendees.

In addition to pledging to uphold and defend the Sierra Leonean Constitution, Mr Bawoh thanked President Bio for the honour of being appointed. He pledged to do his work with diligence and to work nonstop to realise the President’s goals for the nation.

President Bio expressed his gratitude to Mr Bawoh for taking on the significant role and emphasised the responsibility that falls on a small group of people for the country. He urged the Deputy Minister to show leadership and rise to the upcoming challenges, expressing confidence in his abilities. The President gave Mr. Bawoh his word that he would always have his back and urged him to ask senior officials for advice when he needed it.

President Bio encouraged Mr. Bawoh to approach his new role with enthusiasm and determination, acknowledging the demanding nature of public service. He emphasised the importance of taking on leadership responsibilities and assured the Deputy Minister that, with determination and devotion, he could overcome any obstacles that might arise.

Mr Bawoh received congratulations from President Bio, who also wished him luck in his new role. Reiterating his backing and readiness to help whenever needed, he emphasised the cooperative spirit that characterises the government’s dedication to the people of Sierra Leone.
