On Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the esteemed Grand Metro Park Hotel in Beijing, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio opened the inaugural Sierra Leone Investment Forum. Hundreds of Chinese investors and multimillion-dollar companies came together for this historic event. The occasion demonstrated the enormous potential for profitable partnerships and represented a critical turning point in Sierra Leone and China’s economic relationship.

In his keynote address, President Bio emphasised that three key factors—Sierra Leone’s business-friendly climate, youthful population, and abundance of natural resources—make the country an attractive destination for foreign investment. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an open, responsible, and welcoming business environment that puts the environment’s preservation and the needs of the community first.

President Bio highlighted Sierra Leone’s noteworthy rise in the world peace index and the numerous investment-friendly measures implemented, including the National Investment Board, industrial policy development, and special economic zone creation. He described his “big-five game-changers,” which are revolutionary projects meant to propel the nation’s economic development and growth, as well as the enormous opportunities they offer to prospective investors.

“All investors are cordially invited to embark with us on this life-changing adventure. My support is guaranteed, in addition to ministerial support. It will protect both your investment and you. President Bio reaffirmed, “Let us set out on this adventure together to write a new chapter in the relationship between Sierra Leone and China.
