His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio and Khaled Kaim, the Special Envoy of the President of Libya

In a significant diplomatic engagement, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio welcomed Khaled Kaim, the Special Envoy of the President of Libya and Senior Political Adviser, to the State House.

The meeting underscored Libya’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Sierra Leone, as Kaim delivered a message of solidarity from his government. During the meeting, Kaim expressed profound appreciation for President Bio’s proactive role in elevating Africa’s presence on the global stage, particularly within the United Nations Security Council. He highlighted the shared interests that both nations possess as members of the African Union’s Committee of Ten (C-10) and as founding members of the African Union itself. Kaim emphasized the potential for collaboration between Libya and Sierra Leone to achieve mutual objectives, reinforcing the idea that both countries can work together to promote the collective interests of the African continent.

In response, President Bio warmly welcomed the Special Envoy and his delegation, reiterating the strong historical ties that exist between Sierra Leone and Libya. He acknowledged the benefits that have arisen from their longstanding partnership and expressed gratitude to the Libyan government and its people for their continued support. Furthermore, President Bio assured Kaim of his government’s steadfast commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations. The meeting was facilitated by Madam Francess Piagie Alghali, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who introduced Kaim and his team to President Bio, providing a briefing on the objectives of their visit. This engagement marks a positive step towards a more robust relationship between Sierra Leone and Libya.
