Abdul Kakpa has been remanded in prison after appearing in court on Tuesday, August 28, 2024, where he was accused of murdering his girlfriend, Sia Kamara. The case was brought before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at Court No. 2 on Pademba Road in Freetown, where the charge of murder was outlined against him. According to the charge, Kakpa allegedly killed Sia Fatu Kamara by physical assault on August 13, 2024, on Peninsula Road in Freetown.

During the proceedings, Deputy Assistant Registrar (DAR) Hindolo Katta read and explained the charges to the court, but the accused did not enter a plea. The lead prosecutor, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Juan Bull, requested a brief adjournment, explaining that the prosecution team had recently received the case file and had not yet reviewed its details.

In response, lead defence counsel Emmanuel Teddy Koroma Esq. expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and emphasized the importance of a speedy resolution, reminding the court that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Magistrate Bangura subsequently adjourned the case until September 4, 2024, while Kpaka remains in custody.
