Sierra Leone’s YPLS Africa Cohort-13 delegates paid a courtesy visit to DIB Movement Leader Dr Ibrahim Bangura’s residence for a brief but meaningful Award Presentation Ceremony. The ceremony recognised Dr Ibrahim Bangura’s outstanding contributions to youth leadership and civic engagement. Dr Bangura received the award at the recent YPLS Africa Conference in Liberia, where he was represented by the undersigned, Karamoh Kabba, a member of the DIB Movement’s Central Coordinating Committee.
The presentation at Dr Bangura’s home was both an expression of gratitude and a public reaffirmation of his commitment to empowering young people in Sierra Leone. Several members of the CCC and other DIB Movement representatives attended the event, demonstrating institutional solidarity and pride in the Leader’s achievement. Their presence reflected a shared belief that youth leadership and civic participation are critical to Sierra Leone’s democratic progress and overall development objectives.
In his brief remarks, Dr Bangura expressed his appreciation for being represented in Liberia and for the recognition bestowed on him. He urged the delegates to continue championing responsible leadership, active community service, and national unity. Committed to putting the recognition into action, Dr Bangura promised to deepen his involvement with YPLS Africa leadership, highlighting plans for expanded mentorship programs and a series of public lectures aimed at developing the next generation of leaders. He emphasised that the award was more than just a personal honour, but also a tribute to all young Sierra Leoneans striving for excellence and service to the country.
The ceremony was documented for greater visibility, and Cornelius Deveaux and Minkailu Koroma coordinated media facilitation to ensure appropriate coverage and dissemination. According to organisers, the event not only honoured an individual, but also demonstrated Sierra Leonean youth’s growing influence on continental leadership platforms, as well as the DIB Movement’s ongoing commitment to developing capable, civic-minded national actors.
The presentation demonstrates Sierra Leone’s youth movements’ collaborative spirit and shared responsibility for cultivating future leaders who will contribute to the country’s democratic and developmental goals.
