The United Council of Imams has officially launched the Women Support Group for the Central Region. The principal aims are to promote solidarity and mobilize backing for the Council’s numerous undertakings, such as the enlargement of its facilities, across the area.
Nine (9) Sections make up the Central region, which runs from Up-gun to Tengbeh Town. In addition, the Women Support Group plans to establish a training facility where women can obtain vocational and Islamic education. Dr. Mohamed Habib Sheriff, President of the United Council of Imams, acknowledged the late leaders in his speech for their important contributions to the advancement of the organization. He explained that the council decided to create women’s support groups at various zones because women are essential to the spread of Islam.
Our decision to launch this wing was influenced in part by our desire to promote Islam and the values of the organization. He encouraged women to continue doing a great job supporting imams in mosques and Islamic organizations, praising them for this role.
He said that women are a symbol of both national and Islamic unity and he asked the new support group to work toward strengthening the council’s unit.
“The Council will succeed in its plan activities if the women transfer the support they are giving to various mosques across the country,” previously stated Alhaji Ibrahim Mans Kanu, the National Secretary General of the Council. According to him, the United Council of Imams is a religious organization that prioritizes the development, harmony, and well-being of its members in addition to the welfare of Imams across the nation.”
In Freetown, we are presently constructing our headquarters. Our goal as a council is to develop our infrastructure,” he said. Sheikh Muhammad Fuad Kamara, the regional chief imam, and Regional Chairlady Madam Fatmata Conteh declared that the newly formed group would require the unwavering support of every member of the council for it to succeed.
They pleaded with the government to provide the council, particularly in the central area, with land on which to erect its offices. Sheikh Muhammad Fuad Kamara officially opened the Women Support Group on behalf of Mohamed Gento Kamara, who gave the organization NLe 100,000. Mohamed Awalu, the Central Region Chairman, presided over the launch and fundraising.
