The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Hon. Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has officially become a subscriber of the newly launched Sierratel MVNO service after receiving his Sierratel SIM card from the leadership of Sierratel and Africell during a courtesy engagement in his office at Tower Hill.

The delegation, led by the Managing Director of Sierratel, Joe Abass Bangura, alongside the CEO of Africell Sierra Leone, Shadi Gerjawi and senior staff members from both institutions, presented the SIM card to the Vice President as part of ongoing efforts to promote national ownership and support for the country’s newest telecommunications initiative.

Receiving the SIM card with excitement, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh described the Sierratel MVNO project as a significant national development that Sierra Leoneans should embrace and support.
“This is more than just a SIM card. It is a national project that deserves the support of every Sierra Leonean,” the Vice President stated during the engagement.

He commended the partnership between Sierratel and Africell, noting that the initiative has the potential to improve accessibility, affordability, and digital inclusion across the country while strengthening national participation in the telecommunications sector.
The Vice President also shared several strategic ideas aimed at supporting the growth and sustainability of the Sierratel MVNO project. He encouraged the institutions to continue prioritising innovation, customer satisfaction, and nationwide awareness to ensure widespread public acceptance.
According to him, the success of Sierratel’s MVNO operation would contribute positively to Sierra Leone’s digital transformation agenda and create more opportunities for citizens, especially young people and entrepreneurs.

Hon. Juldeh Jalloh further assured the delegation of his commitment to supporting the initiative and helping to encourage public confidence in the service.
Vice President Jalloh playfully asked to have the symbolic presentation board in his office and placed it right at the back of his seat so whoever comes in sees it. “I will play my part as a government in ensuring that Sierratel succeeds because its success is in the interest of Sierra Leone,” he emphasised.
The engagement forms part of broader national outreach activities being undertaken by Sierratel and Africell following the launch of the Sierratel MVNO partnership, which aims to provide Sierra Leoneans with more affordable telecommunications services under the theme “Freedom of Choice.”

The partnership has continued to attract positive reactions from citizens and stakeholders who view the initiative as a step toward strengthening local participation in the country’s telecommunications industry.
