At the 37th African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh of Sierra Leone recently addressed the assembly on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio. Vice President Jalloh delivered two important reports for President Bio’s approval and adoption in a speech that was crucial.
The first report, the 24th C-10 report, addressed the crucial problem of UN Security Council reform. President Bio represents Sierra Leone’s dedication to promoting a more inclusive and representative global governance framework in his role as Coordinator of the AU Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government on the UN Security Council Reforms (C-10). Vice President Jalloh’s second report focused on the African Peer Review report that was approved at the 33rd Summit of the African Peer Review Forum. It emphasised the nation’s commitment to advancing accountability and good governance across the African continent.
Vice President Jalloh highlighted in his speech the noteworthy advancements made in Sierra Leone under President Bio’s direction, especially in terms of rallying support for the Common African Position on UN Security Council reform and pushing African nations to join the African Peer Review Mechanism. The Vice President noted that the reports were unanimously approved by the assembly and expressed gratitude for recognising President Bio’s outstanding leadership in the C-10 and APR Forum initiatives.
Vice President Jalloh congratulated the Sierra Leonean delegation, led by Minister of Political and Public Affairs Amara Kallon, for their outstanding contributions to the presentations. He also expressed gratitude to the Ethiopian government for their cordial hospitality throughout the summit.
For the years 2024–2026, Algeria will serve as the African Peer Review Forum’s Chair. Vice President Jalloh wished President AbdelMadjid Tebboune of Algeria a prosperous term in office as the head of the APR Forum.
