Dr Sheku Ibrahim Conteh has been appointed as Acting Registrar immediately by the University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH). This is a strategic move by University Management to strengthen the institution’s operational efficacy and administrative leadership.
Dr Conteh has a long and illustrious history as an academic, administrator, and public servant with a wealth of knowledge in public governance, higher education administration, and development practice in Sierra Leone and abroad. He worked directly with student services, academic support, and campus life while serving as UNIMTECH’s Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Lecturer in Development Studies before this appointment. In his previous position as the University’s Deputy Registrar (Administration), he played a key role in overseeing administrative personnel, managing daily operations, monitoring student records systems, and making sure that institutional and regulatory requirements were met.
His academic background is extensive and multidisciplinary. Dr Conteh has a PhD in Politics from London Metropolitan University, an MA in Politics and Government from London Guildhall University, and an MBA from Clayton University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. In addition to these degrees, he has specialised in diplomacy, earning certificates from the Foreign Service Training Institute (FSTI) in Islamabad, Pakistan, and the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) in Freetown, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat. He also holds a Diploma in Administrative Management from the Institute of Administrative Management (England) and several Certificates and Diplomas in Business Administration from the Association of Business Executives.
Throughout his professional career, Dr Conteh has held senior positions in academic institutions, government agencies, and overseas assignments. He has held the positions of Registrar of the Institute of Advanced Management and Technology (IAMTECH) and Executive Secretary of the Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone. He has worked professionally in the United Kingdom and has held senior positions in the Ministry of Economic Planning and National Development as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As Chairman of the FIFA/CAF/SLFA 7-Man Working Group, he has also made a contribution to national sports governance.
University Management is confident that Dr Conteh’s extensive administrative experience, solid academic background, and proven leadership skills will improve UNIMTECH’s institutional development, governance, and student services. The administration extends an invitation to the university community to join in congratulating Dr Sheku Ibrahim Conteh on his appointment as Acting Registrar and wishing him luck as he takes on the duties of this important position.
