Dr Francess Virginia Anderson, PhD, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Turkey, hosted a delegation from several Turkish companies, including Almas Services Foreign Trade Limited, Vekon Group, Sila Holding, and Doganlar Agriculture Company, at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ankara to discuss potential investment and partnership opportunities. The visiting delegation expressed strong interest in a variety of sectors, including agriculture, construction, healthcare, trade, logistics, infrastructure development, and manufacturing, indicating a broad appetite for engagement throughout the country’s developing economy.

During the meeting, Ambassador Anderson emphasised Sierra Leone’s ongoing commitment to fostering a more business-friendly environment. She cited recent reforms, private sector development initiatives, and policy measures aimed at attracting foreign direct investment, streamlining procedures, and promoting long-term commercial ventures. These steps, she stated, are intended to make Sierra Leone a more competitive and secure destination for international investors.

The Turkish companies represented at the meeting bring extensive international experience in logistics and trade, modular construction, healthcare infrastructure, and agricultural mechanisation. Their interest is interpreted as an endorsement of Sierra Leone’s economic potential and opportunities in its key growth sectors. The Embassy emphasised the importance of continuing dialogues and follow-up exploratory visits in order to turn discussions into concrete projects.

Officials from both sides expressed optimism that future collaborations will boost investment, create jobs, facilitate technology transfer, and contribute to long-term, sustainable development. The meeting is a positive step toward strengthening economic ties between Sierra Leone and Turkey, as well as aligning private sector capabilities with national development priorities.
