The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas has publicly commended the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, for what he termed an excellent contribution to the advancement of credible government communication and the restoration of public confidence. The comments were made during the Thursday, 9 July 2026 sitting of Parliament when the Minister laid before Parliament a Joint Venture Agreement between the Ministry of Information and Civic Education and the Diming Yimo Printing Group of 24 March 2026.
Rt. Hon. Thomas said that there has been a significant improvement in the credibility of the Ministry in recent years. He said that citizens now trust the information released by the government. He remembered a time when many in the public were doubtful of official statements and credited the change in perception to Minister Bah’s commitment to transparency and effective public engagement. I want to say to you, this House is proud of you and I am so very proud of you. “Thank you very much for all,” the Speaker said.
Minister Chernor Bah said, “I appreciate that you recognise that. “Mr Speaker, thank you very much for those very kind words. “I am humbled by your words,” he said, thanking the Speaker and other parliamentarians for their support. The presentation of the Joint Venture Agreement sparked a discussion on the Ministry’s continuing efforts to institutionalise transparent communication practices and improve the delivery of public information, an agenda the Minister has advanced as part of broader reforms to improve transparency and civic education. Parliamentarians were reminded of the legislature’s role in scrutinising arrangements that affect the dissemination of government information as the document was tabled for their consideration.
