Mrs Christiana S.H. Fallah, Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery, Sierra Leone High Commission in London, attended the Milton Margai Alumni UK & I Cultural Evening on March 7, 2026, at Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton, South East London. Mrs Fallah, a proud former student of the then Milton Margai College of Education and Technology, stated that she was truly delighted to see former students and colleagues come together to celebrate their common background, restore friendships that span decades and foster a sense of togetherness among Sierra Leoneans living in the UK.
Mrs Fallah took the opportunity to reflect on the long history of the institution as a pillar of teacher education and technical training in Sierra Leone. The university, in its various incarnations as the Milton Margai Teachers College and then the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology, has trained generations of teachers, educators and technical specialists whose work has been vital for the advancement of the nation’s educational sector and its general progress. Our graduates continue to excel in the classrooms, in public service, in academia, and in a wide array of professions at home and around the world.
Mrs Fallah praised the executive committee of Milton Margai Alumni UK & I for putting together an event that not only celebrated the history of the institution but also created an opportunity for networking, cultural appreciation and greater cohesion among graduates, friends and supporters of the university. She encouraged the association to continue to build bridges that will inspire and uplift future generations, while preserving the values and traditions that have helped shape the alma mater’s identity.
Mrs Fallah also talked about the great role alumni associations play in supporting and advancing their institutions. She mentioned their ability to create professional networks, mentor students and new graduates, highlight institutional successes, and mobilise resources to encourage continued growth and development. Such groups serve as lasting ambassadors for their universities, keeping alive the legacy and building a culture of service, excellence, and reciprocity, she said.
The Cultural Evening drew a cross-section of the Milton Margai community for a night of music, entertainment, and fellowship, dedicated to the theme of the occasion, “Celebrating Our Heritage”. “Bringing our community together.” The occasion was graced by Mr Mohamed Saduku Dabo and Ms Marinna Jarette, who served as masters of ceremonies, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere that acknowledged both past successes and future potential for the Milton Margai family in the United Kingdom.
