Shooting Stars: Sierra Leone U20 Team Aims for Glory in U20 Zonal Tournament

In an exciting development for football enthusiasts, the Sierra Leone National Under-20 Football Team, fondly known as Shooting Stars, has commenced its preparations for the highly anticipated U20 Zonal Tournament. The tournament, set to take place in Monrovia, Liberia, from Saturday the 17th to Sunday the 25th of February, 2024, promises to be a thrilling showcase of youth football talent.

To bring glory to their nation, Shooting Stars has assembled a formidable 26-man squad. These talented young athletes are eager to display their skills on the regional stage and make their mark in the tournament. The team is fully aware of the fierce competition they will face from their Liberian counterparts and is leaving no stone unturned in their quest for victory.

To ensure optimal training conditions, the team has commenced their preparations on the state-of-the-art artificial turf pitch at the Sierra Leone Football Association playing ground. This newly installed surface provides the perfect environment for honing skills, fostering team cohesion, and preparing for the challenges that lie ahead.

Under the expert guidance of coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara and his dedicated support staff, including SFA’s Youth Football Coordinator, Alimamy Kurash Conteh, the young talents are undergoing intensive training sessions. These sessions focus on tactical strategies, physical conditioning, and technical proficiency. With a balanced mix of experienced players and promising prospects, the squad is determined to make a strong impression and vie for top honours in the tournament.

The U20 Zonal Tournament not only serves as a platform for showcasing emerging talent but also presents a golden opportunity for players to gain invaluable experience and catch the eye of scouts and talent spotters. Many aspiring footballers see this tournament as a stepping stone towards fulfilling their dreams of representing their country at the highest level of international football.
