CEO of LRMG, Gilbert Zhao

In the wake of investigations surrounding the activities of the Chinese Mining Company, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) formerly China Kingho Mining, sexual harassment allegations have rocked the company by a Male Chinese staff on a local female staff.

This is coming at a time when several other ill-treatments are being meted on local staff by the company, without any action being taken against the company.

Just a few days ago, an unannounced visit to the mining site of the company by the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, allowed local staff to vent out their degrading treatment by the company.

After listening to the cry of the workers, the Minister strongly condemned the ill-treatment mentioned by the workers and warned that issues relating to violence, harassment, disrespect, discrimination and intimidation are unacceptable within the framework of the Employment Act of 2023.

The Minister stressed that there are penalties and sanctions for any violation of the same.

Responding to the concern of sexual harassment meted out to the local female staff, the Chief Technical Officer of Leone Rock, Salim Sillah, said that an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the information.

“I am not aware of this incident, and I consider it very serious,” Mr. Sillah stated.

However, sources from Tonkolili claimed that the company had bribed the victim and the police and also signed an oath of secrecy.
