With a penalty kick in the 12th minute, Samuel Gandi made an impression in an exciting match between the Shooting Stars of Sierra Leone and the Lone Stars of Liberia. Mohamed Fofana was fouled in the 18-yard box, which gave Shooting Stars an early advantage. Although Mohamed Bangura’s samba skills created many opportunities for the Shooting Stars, they could not take advantage of them as the formidable Liberian defence consistently denied Gandi.

Both sides exerted much effort in the second half, producing numerous scoring opportunities. Liberia tied the score at 1-1 in the 50th minute thanks to a free kick awarded to the Lone Stars, which resulted in a penalty after custodian Abubakarr Kamara’s save rebounded.

Gandi, who scored the game’s first goal, was overjoyed and vowed to keep finding the back of the net in the remaining games after the 1-1 draw. Fans can now feel confident that the Shooting Stars have what it takes to succeed in U-23 and senior national competitions because of their ability to persevere and perform well despite the draw.

The highly anticipated rematch between the U-20 teams of Liberia and Sierra Leone is scheduled for February 23, 2024, at Samuel K. Doe Stadium. Fans are awaiting this talented duo’s next exciting match with great anticipation.
