While on a state visit to Beijing, China, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio hope to deepen bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China. The visit is scheduled to take place from February 28 to March 2, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.
President Bio will meet with important members of the Chinese government, such as Chairman Zhao Leji and Premier Li Qiang, while they are there. To explore potential areas of collaboration, President Xi Jinping will also hold formal discussions with President Bio and First Lady Fatima Bio.
One of the highlights of the State Visit is the Roundtable Investment Forum, which will bring together investors and representatives from organisations like the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. At the Forum, President Bio will give the keynote address and interact with businesses and investors to discuss potential joint ventures.
President Bio will receive a special honour at the end of the State Visit: an honorary doctorate from the China University of Geosciences in Wuhan Province.
The visit demonstrates both countries’ dedication to strengthening their ties and looking into new opportunities for collaboration. It is anticipated to open the door for improved cooperation in the commerce, finance, and education sectors.
The fact that President Bio visited China demonstrates how much Sierra Leone values its relationship with one of the superpowers in the world. The State Visit is an important step in promoting mutual prosperity and development and deepening the ties between the two nations.
