Julius Maada Bio, the president of Sierra Leone, has travelled to Paris, France, for the International Energy Agency (IEA) Summit on Clean Cooking. President Bio will give the keynote address at the plenary session on a turning point for Clean Cooking in Africa, accompanied by Mr Jiwoh Abdualai, Minister of Energy, and Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change and Renewable Energy and Food Security.

Other heads of state, such as the prime minister of Norway, the president of Togo, HE Faure Gnassingbé, and H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of the United Republic of Tanzania, will be present at the summit, which aims to address the opportunities and challenges for clean cooking solutions in Africa. The fact that President Bio is attending the summit demonstrates Sierra Leone’s dedication to combating climate change and advancing clean energy solutions.

Given the nation’s struggles with energy access and environmental sustainability, President Bio’s attendance at the Summit is evidence of his administration’s commitment to making clean cooking and renewable energy projects a top priority. During his keynote speech, President Bio is anticipated to discuss Sierra Leone’s approaches to promoting clean cooking options, decreasing dependence on conventional cooking techniques, and expanding access to clean and reasonably priced energy for all residents.

The President will also stress the significance of global alliances and collaboration in accomplishing sustainable energy targets in Africa. President Bio’s participation is essential to advancing the agenda for clean cooking and renewable energy in Africa as the Summit brings together important stakeholders, policymakers, and experts in the energy sector. Sierra Leone is eager to work with other nations and institutions to hasten the continent’s shift to greener and more sustainable energy sources. Overall, President Bio’s leadership at the IEA Energy Summit in Paris demonstrated Sierra Leone’s commitment to advancing clean energy, combating climate change, and guaranteeing a sustainable future for all citizens.
