The Sierra Leone Basketball Association (SLBA) received eight full sets of basketball jerseys as a kind donation from Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq., Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA). The donation, made at the NSA office on Signal Hill Road, illustrated Dr. Abdulai’s support for national sporting associations.

Dr. Abdulai talked about how much he loved basketball and how much he respected the NBA during the presentation. He expressed his wish to establish ties with the Senegal Basketball Association, the organization that houses the NBA Africa hub. Though it was a modest gesture, the basketball jersey donation represented his love of the game and his dedication to helping it flourish in Sierra Leone.

Ali Hijazi, the President of the SLBA, expressed gratitude for the donation and mentioned that it was the first time a sports authority had given them material support. He said that the jerseys would be given to eight basketball teams around the nation, emphasizing the importance of the donation. President Hijazi also promised that the Association would keep working with the NSA, led by Dr. Abdulai, to advance sports in Sierra Leone.

Alie Sesay, the NSA’s Director of Corporate Operations, worked hard to make the donation possible. Basketball jerseys are a kind gift that will surely help the basketball community in Sierra Leone and advance the growth of the sport there. Dr. Abdulai’s backing of the SLBA is indicative of a shared dedication to advancing sports and giving athletes the chance to succeed.
