The National Revenue Authority (NRA) officially commissioned the newly constructed Jendema Border Crossing Post, claiming that the move would strengthen border management, facilitate trade, and improve revenue administration. The opening ceremony was attended by NRA Board and Management members, traditional and community leaders, representatives from the Liberia Customs Authority, and other key stakeholders, demonstrating the collaborative approach to improving cross-border governance.
In his welcome remarks, A. J. Zoker, Chiefdom Speaker of Sorogbema Chiefdom, praised the NRA’s initiative, describing the new facility as a significant development that will boost revenue growth and improve service delivery to local communities and traders. Zoker’s comments highlighted local expectations that the post will provide tangible benefits to the community
During the event, Customs Commissioner Tennyson Bio emphasised the importance of border security, trade facilitation, and revenue mobilisation to both national development and effective customs administration. He stated that the modernised post will increase operational efficiency, reinforce compliance measures, and facilitate legitimate cross-border trade.

Mr Kabineh M. Kallon, Chairman of the NRA Board, framed the commissioning as a visible demonstration of the Authority’s commitment to modernisation, institutional excellence, and improved stakeholder service delivery. He stated that the facility reflects ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and processes in accordance with international best practices.
The newly opened Jendema Border Crossing Post is expected to strengthen customs operations, improve border security, and promote seamless, lawful trade within the subregion, all of which will contribute to the larger goals of economic growth and regional cooperation.
