Hon. Chernor Bah, Minister of Information and Civic Education, on 5th October 2026, officially welcomed a delegation from Malawi to Sierra Leone for a 10-day knowledge-sharing program on civic education, institutional coordination, peacebuilding, local governance, and citizen engagement. Minister Bah received the delegation at the Youyi Building office and described the visit as an important opportunity to learn from each other and work together.
Minister Bah said the program should provide practical exposure to how Sierra Leone handles civic education and public participation, and allow visiting delegates to share Malawi’s own experiences and approaches. He said the Chairperson of NaCCED and the Permanent Secretary will lead and coordinate the engagement and urged the Malawian guests to take advantage of their time to meet with institutions, share ideas and create lasting partnerships that can benefit the two countries.
Minister Bah said he had personal connections with Malawi, recalling a visit to the country about 15 years ago, and spoke glowingly of its people, whom he described as warm, welcoming, and deeply proud of their country. He urged the delegation to stay in Sierra Leone beyond the official engagements to appreciate the country’s culture and hospitality and enjoy the local food.
The Minister expressed optimism that this exchange will strengthen the two countries’ relationship, adding that he hopes the relationship will be reciprocal and that the Sierra Leonean delegation will also visit Malawi in the future. The program seeks to promote cooperation in peacebuilding and local governance, improve institutional coordination and support initiatives to engage citizens more effectively in democratic processes.
