John Sesay, 55, and his 19-year-old son, John Alfred Sesay, appeared before Magistrate Mamakoh Sao Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown and were remanded in custody. They are facing severe charges in connection with an alleged July 21, 2025, incident involving property damage and assault.

Two counts of assault under Section 46 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861 and malicious damage under Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of the same year have been brought against the pair. Police reports claim that the accused assaulted Aziz Alhassan Turay at No. 11 Priscilla Street, causing the victim to sustain injuries. In addition, Turay’s black prescription eyeglasses, which are worth about $300 (approximately Le7,110), are allegedly damaged.

Throughout the court proceedings, the accused did not enter a plea. The prosecutor told the judge that he had just received the case file and that no witnesses were available to testify at this time. John Alfred Sasay and John Sesay were thus placed under remand at the Male Correctional Centre by Magistrate Kallon. To allow for additional hearings, the case has been postponed until August 8, 2025. Police Constable 15098 M.A. Sesay prosecuted the matter.
