Crowd disturbances forced the 2023–24 FA Cup Grand Final, held in Port Loko, to end early, according to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). Because of the incident at a critical juncture in the game, officials had to stop it to protect everyone’s safety.
The SLFA stresses the significance of player, official, and fan safety and security and denounces any violence or disruptive conduct during football games.”The organisation will work closely with relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident,” according to a press release from SLFA.
The FA Cup Organizing Committee will review the reports from the match commissioner and referee to identify the cause of the incident and decide on the appropriate course of action. Following the committee’s evaluation, updates will be given.
The Press Release stated, “The SLFA appreciates the football community’s support and understanding and urges all stakeholders to remain calm and respectful as the investigation unfolds.”
