On Friday, September 12, 2025, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio met with Her Excellency Rasha Soliman Mohi Eldin Soliman, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sierra Leone, at State House in Freetown for a bilateral briefing and discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. The meeting reaffirmed the growing partnership that developed following President Bio’s state visit to Egypt in March 2025.
Ambassador Soliman used the occasion to reiterate Egypt’s commitment to deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest. She highlighted the progress made in implementing the comprehensive cooperation agreements signed earlier this year, which cover critical sectors such as agriculture, defense, infrastructure, port development, and fisheries. The Ambassador described the implementation efforts as encouraging and reaffirmed Egypt’s willingness to support practical, results-oriented projects that benefit both nations.
During the visit, Ambassador Soliman delivered a formal invitation from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to President Bio to attend the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum on the Giza Plateau. The museum, located next to the Great Pyramids, is billed as the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization and is expected to be a cultural landmark.
President Bio thanked President El-Sisi and Egypt’s government for their ongoing partnership and support. He described Sierra Leone and Egypt’s relationship as one based on history and mutual respect, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the March agreements produce tangible development outcomes for the people of both countries. He also thanked President El-Sisi for inviting him to the museum’s opening ceremony, recognizing it as an important celebration of history, knowledge, and cultural heritage.
