Ambassador Karim Participates in the 7th China Overseas Investment Forum

His Excellency Abu Bakarr Karim has recently participated in the 7th Session of the China Overseas Investment Forum held in Beijing, where he delivered a speech highlighting Sierra Leone’s readiness to forge global strategic partnerships with several Countries including the PRC. 

In his speech at an event that attracted numerous representatives from around the world, Ambassador Karim emphasized his Country’s commitment to attracting foreign investment aimed at ensuring transformative projects and programs. He underscored the importance of collaborating with both State-owned entities and private sectors in other to create sustainable development opportunities. Highlighting Sierra Leone’s strategic location and the endowment of natural resources, Ambassador Karim added that Sierra Leone is a centre of gravity for infrastructural investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, and energy. 

Furthermore, Ambassador Karim cited the longstanding friendship between Sierra Leone and China thereby expressing gratitude for China’s support in various developmental projects. He praised the Belt and Road Initiative whose objective is to enhance connectivity and promote economic cooperation between China and Countries along the ancient Silk Road routes. The initiative presents significant opportunities for Sierra Leone to improve its infrastructure, trade relations, and overall economic growth. Participants praised President Bio’s vision of forging global strategic partnerships to drive inclusive and sustainable development in Sierra Leone and the wider region. 

Following his address, Ambassador Karim engaged in several aside meetings with potential investors, exploring opportunities for collaboration and investment in Sierra Leone. He emphasized the Country’s commitment to providing a favourable business environment and assured investors of Government support in their ventures.
