On August 18, 2026, Africell and Afrimoney Sierra Leone donated Le150,000 to East End Lions FC to support the club’s preparations for the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup. The presentation was made as the Lions step up preparations for the continental campaign.
Afrimoney CEO Martison Obeng-Agyei said the companies are committed to developing sports in Sierra Leone and pledged ongoing support, describing sport as a key avenue for youth empowerment and raising the country’s profile abroad.
He urged players to remain focused, disciplined and determined throughout the competition. The handover was witnessed by Africell Sierra Leone CEO Shadi Gergerwi and staff of both organisations.
Secretary General Alpha Jalloh Esq, who received the funds on behalf of the club, thanked Africell and Afrimoney for their continuous partnership with the club. The donation will help with the costs associated with travel, accommodation, venue arrangements and other logistics for the continental fixtures, he said. The first leg will be played in Abidjan and the second leg at the SKD Stadium in Liberia.
The partnership was timely and important as East End Lions prepare to represent Sierra Leone at a higher level of African club football, according to Jalloh.
The support is anticipated to provide a significant boost to the club’s preparations as it aims to make a positive impact in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
