Deputy Energy Minister I Installs a Brand New Transformer at Waterloo

Just two weeks after a key transformer at Waterloo went faulty, the Deputy Minister of Energy l, Dr Eldred Taylor, has demonstrated the commitment of the government to making access to electricity a fundamental priority by replacing the derelict transformer with a brand new one with increased capacity.

While installing and commissioning the new transformer, Dr. Taylor said electricity was an essential service that the Government of President Julius Maada Bio was taking seriously, noting that the President had given him clear instructions to replace the transformer within two weeks.

He said the fact that they were installing a new transformer in just two weeks rather than after the usual six weeks was an indication of how close Waterloo and the rest of the rural district was to the heart of President Bio.

Dr. Taylor called on residents and security operatives to own and jealously guard the transformer.

“As a government, we will continue to listen to your cries for social services and by extension responsibly and appreciably respond to those cries. We are a government with a human face,” he said.

Local Unit Commander at Waterloo Division, Joe Kamanda Bongay, praised the Deputy Minister for the quick response, adding that as police officers, the need for electricity to help them discharge their constitutional duties concerning nighttime operations could not be overemphasized.

He assured the Minister and the people of Waterloo that the new facility and other facilities in the community would be protected.

Councillor Abu Bockarie Konneh commended Dr Taylor for facilitating the installation, describing him as a true son of the soil.

With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked, reforms continue in the sector.
