Over 400 young people participated in the 4-day Volleyball Unity Club Championship in Kenema, which was successfully organized by the Sierra Leone Volleyball Federation (SLVF). The SLVF supported the grassroots growth of volleyball in Sierra Leone and gave young people in the country temporary jobs thanks to the National Sports Authority (NSA) and Dr Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai’s guidance.

Ahmed Kanu, President of SLVF, conveyed his happiness with the occasion and emphasized its beneficial effects on the neighbourhood. At the Government Secondary School Volleyball Court, Kenema, Makeni, and Freetown teams competed for the champion trophies in this championship match. The Young Stars Volleyball Male and Female Teams won the championship, followed in second place by the Wusum Stars Female Team and the 12% Male Team.

In addition to hosting competitive matches, the SLVF looked for land at K School in Kenema to build a beach volleyball court and donated equipment as a way to support the neighbourhood. The occasion demonstrated the SLVF’s dedication to growing volleyball and giving young people opportunities through sports.

At the Championship Finals, NSA representatives presented medals, trophies, certificates, and individual awards to the competitors. The event’s flawless execution served as a reminder of how crucial government assistance is to expanding athletic associations and advancing youth sports development.

Overall, the Kenema Championship was a huge success and demonstrated the talent and promise of young volleyball players in Sierra Leone. The SLVF is positioned to increase its influence and reach in the nation’s sports scene with ongoing support from the government and the NSA.
