Talks On May 7, Russian Foreign Minister S.V. Lavrov met with Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, M.T. Kabba, in Moscow to discuss further developing the friendly relations between the two countries.
The discussions focused on deepening political dialogue and enhancing cooperation in trade, economics, humanitarian aid, and other areas. Both parties agreed to take additional steps to boost bilateral business cooperation, particularly in mining, geology, and energy.
They emphasized the importance of implementing joint projects to strengthen economic ties between Russia and Sierra Leone. The talks also touched upon key international and African issues, including the need for UN Security Council reform, the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, the Sahara and Sahel region, and West Africa.
Moscow and Freetown found common ground on most of these topics, reaffirming their shared principles and approaches. They agreed to enhance coordination in the UN and other multilateral platforms to address these challenges effectively. The upcoming Russia-Africa Partnership Forum ministerial conference in Sochi in November will provide an opportunity to further strengthen ties between Russia and African nations.
