Following the successful conclusion of Mrs Menah Bando Fillie-Faboe’s tour of duty as Head of Chancery (HOC), the Sierra Leone Embassy in Abu Dhabi hosted a heartfelt ceremony to welcome Mohamed Sorie Conteh, Esq., as her successor. Ambassador Rashid Sesay and the entire embassy staff were present at the event, which was held at the Chancery in Abu Dhabi, for a program of honours, recognitions, and a formal transfer of duties.
The tributes to Mrs Fillie-Faboe were led by Ambassador Sesay, who expressed gratitude for her diligence, commitment, and hard work on behalf of the mission. He pointed out that the Embassy achieved several noteworthy accomplishments under her direction and that her contribution is now part of the institution’s documented history. Since we have collaborated with you over the years, your name will be mentioned in this Embassy’s statement. As someone who has contributed to this Embassy’s success, you have left your name in its archives. You have made a significant contribution. The Ambassador thanked her for her long service and the legacy she leaves behind, saying, “We will miss you, but we wish you good luck and all the best.”
Ambassador Sesay turned to the new Head of Chancery, Mohamed Sorie Conteh, Esq., and greeted him warmly. He said that the Embassy was a family-oriented organisation and that staff would work with him in a friendly and cooperative way. As the chancery moves to new leadership, he emphasised the value of continuity and cooperation.
In response, Mrs Fillie-Faboe expressed gratitude to the Ambassador and her coworkers for their kind remarks and the support she had received during her time there. She also wished Mr Conteh well and conveyed her belief that he would successfully continue his duties.
Mohamed Sorie Conteh, Esq., acknowledged the positive feedback from employees and thanked Mrs Fillie-Faboe for her hard work. In order to accomplish the goals of the Embassy, he promised to adopt a team-oriented approach and collaborate with all employees.
As they welcomed Mr Conteh into his new position, other mission members offered their thoughts and praised Mrs Fillie-Faboe’s assistance over the years. The ceremony marked a respectful and orderly change of stewardship at the Sierra Leone Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, culminating in an official handover between the departing and incoming Heads of Chancery.
