After serving as Germany’s official diplomatic representative in Sierra Leone for two years, His Excellency Jens Kraus-Massé, the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Sierra Leone, has formally taken a leave of absence from His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
Hon. Musa Timothy Kabba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, thanked President Bio for providing the audience during his remarks. He said that Ambassador Kraus-Massé was a true friend of Sierra Leone and that the Ambassador had worked on several projects to improve the two countries’ bilateral ties while he was there.
Ambassador Jens Kraus-Massé thanked President Bio for hosting him, his wife, and the Deputy Head of Mission during his parting remarks. He said he was proud of Sierra Leone’s advancements under President Bio’s direction and characterised his stay there as impactful and exciting.
The Ambassador remarked, “Your Excellency, we are proud of the progress Sierra Leone is making under your leadership and your resolute dedication to changing this country.” “You were recently elected Chairman of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, and I would like to congratulate you on that.”
He underlined that President Bio’s appointment to ECOWAS was a major accomplishment for the President and the nation, even though he acknowledged that it came during a difficult time. Additionally, he praised President Bio’s efforts to get Sierra Leone to the UN Security Council.
“The makeup of your cabinet is one of the best measures of your commitment to advancing women,” Ambassador Kraus-Massé said, praising President Bio’s efforts to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. I’m grateful, Your Excellency.
He continued by sharing a personal reflection from one of his provincial visits, pointing out that the President’s investment in human capital development is responsible for the fact that more girls than boys are now pursuing science courses. “This is amazing,” he remarked. “It is admirable that you are investing in your nation’s future through education.”
President Julius Maada Bio responded by expressing gratitude to Ambassador Kraus-Massé for his significant contributions to Sierra Leone’s diplomatic engagement and development agenda during the previous two years.
He recognised the Ambassador’s contribution to improving collaboration with the European Union and fortifying Sierra Leone-German bilateral ties.
President Bio wished Ambassador Kraus-Massé luck on his upcoming diplomatic mission and invited him to return to Sierra Leone in the future.
