The Sierra Leone Football Association with support from FIFA and in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education has today Monday, February 5th commenced a 3-day training workshop for over 50 Physical Education teachers at the Wusum Hotel in Makeni in preparation for the launching of the FIFA Football for Schools (F4S) Programme in Sierra Leone.
The opening of the training was witnessed by the Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh, Technical Director Ibrahim Bah, Director of Sports at the Ministry of Sports Haroun Korji, Director of the National Institute of Sports at the National Sports Authority Victor Hastings Spaine, and the Deputy Director of Education North-East Region Sahr Ruben Suluku.
When he was giving an overview of the Program, the lead facilitator Antonio Buenaño Sanches said, “The F4S programme seeks to make football more accessible to both boys and girls around the country by incorporating football activities into the education system, in partnership with relevant authorities and stakeholders.” Declaring the training open, the Acting General Secretary Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh encouraged the participants to take the training very seriously, adding that “the country relies on you for the success and sustainability of this novelty”.
The training will end with a children’s football festival at the Wusum Field, which shall symbolize the official launching of the F4S programme on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.
