SLFA President Babadi Kamara Announces Full Waiver of Coaching Licence Fees for all female coaches

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), under the authority of its Executive Committee and President Babadi Kamara, has approved and immediately implemented a policy that waives all coaching course fees for all female coaches in Sierra Leone. The waiver applies to enrollment in the Association’s entire coaching pathway, from Licence D to Licence A, and will remain in effect for the duration of the current Executive Committee’s term.

This is a deliberate institutional intervention aimed at removing a long-standing financial barrier that has prevented women from pursuing formal technical education in football. President Kamara stressed that meaningful, long-term development of women’s football necessitates structured investment not only in players but also in qualified technical leadership. The SLFA hopes that eliminating course fees for women will speed up the certification of female coaches and create a broader, more diverse pool of instructors capable of advancing the sport at both the grassroots and elite levels.

According to the Association, increasing the number of certified female coaches will improve community-level development, raise coaching and training standards nationwide, and contribute to the long-term growth of Sierra Leone football. The initiative is presented as being consistent with the SLFA’s statutory responsibilities in terms of capacity development, equal opportunity, and adherence to internationally recognised sports governance standards.

All eligible female coaches are invited to register for upcoming courses through the SLFA’s official channels. Prospective candidates should pay attention to SLFA communications for information on course schedules, registration procedures, and supporting documentation. The Association expressed hope that this policy will increase female participation in coaching roles and foster a more inclusive future for football across the country.
