Emmanuel Sahr Tondoneh, the new Ombudsman, and Madam Jenneh Jabati, the newly approved Deputy Minister II of Finance, were sworn in by His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio after their successful parliamentary approval.
According to Mr. Barba Brima Fortune, the President’s secretary, the two officials had been unanimously approved after completing the due diligence process conducted by members of Parliament. All ministers, deputy ministers, and ombudsmen must take an oath of office prior to taking up their positions, he continued, and the swearing-in was done in compliance with those provisions.
Madam Jenneh Jabati, Deputy Minister II, spoke on behalf of both appointees and thanked President Bio for the chance to work in his administration. She promised him that they took the call to national duty seriously and that they would put in a lot of effort to live up to the President’s and the people’s expectations.
While congratulating the new Deputy Minister II and Ombudsman on their successful approval, President Julius Maada Bio stressed in his speech that their selection was based on trust and merit. He reminded them that they have a big responsibility, particularly in trying times, and he asked them to put their all into carrying out their mandates.
In his speech, the President emphasized the value of integrity, professionalism, and discipline in public service. He greeted them with open arms in their new positions and emphasized that they are now answerable to the Sierra Leonean people, urging them to always be careful what they do.
