News from the Diaspora has intimated this medium that comes December 1st this year, there is likely going to be another big protest, which will impact government operations negatively, countrywide.

In an interview with one of the organizers in the Diaspora, Humphrey Thomas, he disclosed that he is coming up with what he described as a ‘Pot Coba’ Protest to let the government know the challenges and frustration the masses are going through.

He said that Sierra Leone has faced its fair share of economic, social, and political hardship under the current Bio administration. Freedom of speech and peaceful assembly have been stifled, hindering public discourse and protests, added to the political impasse that has stalled growth in Sierra Leone, causing extreme hardship, with major increases in the prices of food, transportation, and everything else, without a commensurate increase in salaries. He stressed that “Whether we like it or not, Sierra Leone is on the edge of falling off a cliff and a total collapse that could take us decades back, and it’s time to take action to save Sierra Leone before it’s too late.” He maintained that they would be staging a protest to let the world know that Sierra Leoneans are not happy with what is taking place in their country.

“To combat this, we propose a unique and peaceful way for Sierra Leoneans and those who want to save this beautiful country from the regression being expedited by the current administration, to express their dissatisfaction, knowing that the brutality of government or tyrannical tendencies of not allowing public protests or killing protesters will no longer keep us quiet:” he said.

According to Humphrey Thomas, the objective behind this is to generate a synchronized noise event across Sierra Leone, and globally, to protest the policies and governance of the Bio administration, without jeopardizing the safety of participants.

De disclosed that the Campaign was Launched on October 9, 2023, at noon (local time) and the actual protest will take place on December 1, 2023, from 7 am to 5 pm.

What is “The Pot Cover (Pot Coba) Campaign”?

He disclosed that this campaign is a peaceful form of protest, where individuals clap cooking pot covers together, starting at 7 a.m. till 5 p.m. on December 1st, 2023. This campaign was initiated by Humphery Thomas, who maintained that the campaign seeks to unify voices across Sierra Leone and the world, advocating for change, and poverty alleviation without risking personal safety.
