Gbinti Sons And Daughters (GISAD) has donated the sum of $10,000 (Ten Thousand US Dollars) worth of items to six schools of over 1,364 pupils and 60 teachers within Gbinti, Divia Chiefdom, Karanneh District.

The donation comprises teaching and learning materials for both pupils and teachers in those schools.

Presenting the items on behalf of the Gbinti Sons And Daughters diaspora branch, GISAD Global Coordinator, Mrs Yabom Lasana Bundu, disclosed that three secondary schools, which are Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood (SLMB), Sunday Foundation for Girls and Gbinti Secondary schools and two primary schools, RC Primary school and SLMB, and one infant, comprises of over 1,364 pupils and 60 teachers benefitting from the offer, intending to boost education in the Gbinti and its surrounding.

Mrs. Bundu expressed joy to be part of such an organization and to represent them both at home and aboard, as their Coordinator. She thanked the teachers for their good work, as she puts it, teaching in the village is not easy.

Madam Bundu promised that GISAD would not forget to support them, as such donations started over decades with the thought that children are the future leaders.

GISAD Public Relations Officer, Mohamed Bundu, stated that Mrs Yabom Lansana and her team have good plans for the chiefdom. He pleaded to the parents and teachers to help the children to learn, so that in future they will have better things to do, and to also help the younger ones as demonstrated by the current executive and members.

He also appealed to the teachers to put more effort into teaching the kids, adding that this is the reason for encouraging them, furthering that they have not been left out from any donation they are giving the schools.

The Head Teacher of the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood (SLMB) expressed thanks and appreciation to the GISAD membership for such a donation.

In a telephone conversation to this medium, GISAD President, Umar Gassim Jah, pointed out that the donation made by the children of the village who are living in the diaspora is a realization that education is the key to every success.

The GISAD President reflected on the several donations they have made since 2020, when Sierra Leone had her Corona outbreak, by the Gbinti Sons and Daughters from the diaspora, by then it was called Divia Club.

According to him, speaking in one voice will help the chiefdom and the surrounding villages to grow and develop.

He continued that it was when Corona started that they made sure to sensitize their people to take precautions.

He also spoke about the Solar system and standby generator donation they made to the Gbinti central mosque, adding that during the month of Ramadan, they provided food for the Gbinti home-based people and not one surname (Jah), but all other surnames that are from the village.

He also listed all the items that GISAD provided for the schools, such as basketball, fax machines and others, as they plan to do more.

The GISAD President said that it is not easy for them too, as they are mourning the death of three committed members: Alhassan Jalloh, the Global Financial Secretary, Amadu Faliu  Dainkeh, Vice President for Africa, and Uncle Bundu, advisers for GISAD. He prayed for their souls to rest in peace.

The Paramount Chief of Gbinti Chiefdom under Karanneh District, in his welcome address earlier, said both Primary and Secondary schools have future Teachers, Lawyers, Doctors, Diplomats and even President.

He appealed to parents to ensure that their kids go to school at all times. He said if such donation continues, the pupils will be motivated more, and they also will be able to help because they are learning from good examples, but if they have bad eggs, the country will be at stake.
