In the Koinadugu District of Kabala, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and its agencies recently launched their Tourism for All Campaign. The delegation, headed by Minister Nabeela Farida Tunis, spent two days touring the ecotourism location at Wara Wara mountain and the cultural village of Yagala.
The visit’s main objectives were to establish collaborations for the creation and marketing of tourist destinations and to highlight the district’s rich cultural diversity. Plans were also made to train the tour guides in the district to enhance the quality of the tourist experience.
The Minister and her group paid the Paramount Chiefs Kondowlay Mansaray and Alie BallaSama Marah a courtesy call before touring the sites, asking for their help promoting tourism and cultural offerings in the area. The leaders gave the delegation a warm welcome and emphasised the importance of their tourist destinations, which include Bintumani Mountain, Lake Sonfon, and the Wara Wara Yagala cave.
Minister Tunis observed the distinctive terrain of the ecotourism destination, Wara Wara Mountain, which is ideal for adventure and agrotourism. The team was able to see traditional marriages and other cultural performances and exhibitions that showcased Yagala village’s rich cultural diversity. The Yagala Limba Slave Resistance Refuge’s historical significance was emphasised by the villagers as they enthusiastically presented their culture.
Minister Tunis commended the villagers for their exceptional performance and display of their culture and emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting Yagala Village’s attractions. She reassured them that additional visits would be made to support their cultural talents and urged them to keep exhibiting their culture to draw in more guests.
The delegation, which also included the Permanent Secretary, the Deputy Director of Tourism, and other staff members, participated in other activities in addition to incorporating the district’s tourism and cultural offerings into travel packages. To highlight Sierra Leone’s rich cultural legacy and draw more tourists, the Ministry intends to keep promoting travel to Kabala and other parts of the nation.
The Ministry’s trip to Kabala was fruitful in advancing the Tourism for All Initiative and showcasing the wide range of sights and cultural events that the Koinadugu District has to offer.
