Hon. Nyuma: Dr Sengeh is the sole defender of President Bio’s legacy

During strategic Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) meetings held in Kenema over the weekend, Hon. Sahr Mathew Nyuma singled out Chief Minister Dr David Moinina Sengeh as the only party figure who consistently defends and promotes President Julius Maada Bio’s achievements. Speaking to a group of senior and junior party members, Hon. Nyuma stated that he has long observed the public statements of many government officials and that Dr Sengeh stands out for “marketing the remarkable work President Bio is doing”.

“Say what you want about the Chief Minister, but he is the only person who proudly defends President Bio and the SLPP party wherever he goes,” Hon. Nyuma told attendees, adding that he is glad the party has someone like Dr Sengeh. The majority leader emphasised that the party’s future depends on vocal and visible support for the president’s record.

Hon. Nyuma also expressed concern about other party members, claiming that they have been travelling from village to village promoting their personal profiles rather than communicating the Bio administration’s accomplishments. He warned that such behaviour could jeopardise the SLPP’s position in the 2028 elections if the party fails to promote the president’s legacy as its primary electoral platform.

“The only ground we have for the 2028 elections is President Bio’s legacy, and I am glad we have someone like David Sengeh who is constantly marketing President Bio’s legacy,” Nyuma declared, urging colleagues to prioritise the party’s collective message over personal self-promotion. His comments emphasised the need for unified messaging within the SLPP as it prepares for future political contests.
