Founder of Tour De Lunsar, Abdul Karim Kamara (Stylish)

The Founder of Tour De Lunsar, Abdul Karim Kamara has been accused by a former Lunsar Cycling Club rider of sexually harassing her. According to a letter addressed to the President of the National Olympic Committee, the victim explained that she officially called on the attention of Prince Vandy Sualley, concerning the issue of sexual harassment from Abdul Karim Kamara ( stylish), founder of the Tour De Lunsar Cycling Event. “As a female cyclist, I was a member of the Lunsar Cycling Club before relocating to Freetown permanently, while I continue my riding career, as one of the best female cyclists currently in Sierra Leone. I have won several awards at the Tour De Lunsar Cycling Competitions and also participated in different international competitions in other African countries, but I did not receive the recognition and benefits that I deserved, because I did not succumb to the foolishness Mr Kamara wanted to bring to me, as he had been on my neck to sleep with me by all means”, she stated. The alleged victim added that Abdul Karim Kamara ( stylish) has been sending her a series of sexually suggestive messages and inviting her to meet him in different hotels in Freetown on several occasions.

“Because I have been reluctant to adhere to his requests, he has been bent on destroying my name to people who are opting to help me excel in the sport within and outside Sierra Leone. I have made several complaints to the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association, to Mohamed C.D. Kamara, and the Secretary-General, Sinneh Mansaray, but they have turned blind eyes to my complaints,” the letter reads.

“I felt like I was being pressurized by these men to allow Mr. Kamara’s

proposal or keep quiet on this particular matter, but I cannot keep myself quiet, as I have been a cyclist for almost over ten years and think someone would chase me out of the association, which is why I have decided to report the matter, as I have several pieces of evidence on the harassment and requests. I believe if I kept this matter quiet, I am sure it would also affect other females upcoming riders, as this needs to stop,”.

“I am requesting that the NOC Ethics Committee and other sports

stakeholders from the Ministry and National Sports Authority look into this matter and take appropriate action against Mr. Kamara to stop him from harassing me and other female cyclists,” the letter added.  The alleged victim is calling on the Ministry of Sports, National Sports Authority, National Olympic Committee and other sports stakeholders in Sierra Leone to take necessary action and investigate the issue.

Responding to the allegation, Abdul Karim Kamara (stylish) elucidated that he is willing to fully cooperate with any investigation into the matter and hopes the issue can be resolved truthfully and honestly.

“Personally, in my position in SLNCA, and as part of the wider cycling community, I am willing and ready to cooperate with this matter fully and transparently. I wish it to be resolved in a fair, honest and truthful way’,” he stated.
