Friday, January 9, 2026. Today, Chief Minister Dr David Moinina Sengeh led a high-level government delegation on a working visit to the TAF Salone Micro City, reinforcing Sierra Leone’s commitment to strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) as a key tool for delivering infrastructure and housing on a large scale.
The site visit follows His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio’s formal commissioning of the project in December 2025, during which the President emphasised the administration’s willingness to collaborate with credible private investors to close critical infrastructure gaps, the most prominent of which is housing. The Chief Minister was joined by the Ministers of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, demonstrating the government’s emphasis on development across all sectors.

Mr Mustapha Njie, Chief Executive Officer of TAF Africa Global, welcomed the delegation to Micro City and walked them through the project’s timeline and milestones. The TAF Salone Micro City was conceived in 2020 as part of a larger vision to catalyse housing solutions throughout the region. Two years later, it entered into a Joint Venture Agreement with the Government of Sierra Leone and began construction. Mr Njie stated that the development has already gained significant market traction: it is home to approximately seven families, with dozens of additional homes sold to date. The current ownership is roughly 60 per cent domestic buyers and 40 per cent Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora. The long-term goal for the site is to build approximately 5,000 homes.

TAF Salone Micro City showcases a variety of contemporary housing typologies designed to meet a wide range of needs and budgets. During the visit, the following product offerings were highlighted: Fatima four-bedroom villa (176 m²), Mabinty three-bedroom villa (140 m²), Sia three-bedroom bungalow (90 m²), Isata two-bedroom apartment (81.9 m²), Phebean three-room apartment (81.9 m²), Hawa two-bedroom bungalow (73 m²), and Sallay two-bedroom bungalow (49 m²). These options are supplemented by plans for smart infrastructure and modern planning features that aim to improve livability and resilience.

Chief Minister Sengeh described the Micro City as a physical manifestation of the government’s Big Five Game Changers agenda, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, technology, and innovation. He observed that the project goes beyond simply providing housing units: by incorporating modern planning concepts and smart systems, it generates local jobs, boosts investor confidence, and contributes to the creation of inclusive urban environments. These outcomes, he said, are critical to attracting diaspora capital and accelerating long-term economic growth in Sierra Leone.
Mr Njie attributed TAF Africa Global’s decision to invest in Sierra Leone to an improved business and investment climate fostered by President Bio’s administration. He emphasised that the Micro City exemplifies how effective collaboration between government and the private sector can translate policy goals into tangible results that improve citizens’ quality of life.
TAF Salone Micro City is part of TAF Africa Global’s larger plan to build one million homes in sub-Saharan Africa over the next 20 years. Sierra Leone views the development as a flagship PPP model, demonstrating how well-structured partnerships can deliver impactful infrastructure, advance national development priorities, and provide long-term housing solutions for current and future generations.
