Chamber of Parliament Clocks 61 Years Today

The Chamber of Parliament situated at Parliament Building, Tower Hill in Freetown was opened today 26/04/1961, 61 years ago by the Duke of Kent on the Eve of Sierra Leone’s Independence from Britain.

Sierra Leone gained its independence from Britain on 27 of April 1961.

The Chamber was handed over on the grounds of strengthening democracy through productive debates and enactment of laws for peace, order and good governance of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

Coincidentally, the Parliament of Sierra Leone is also sitting today (26/04/2022) to transact the business of the House through deliberations for the development of Sierra Leone.
