By Jeneba A. Conteh

Business magnate Adekalie Conteh was charged with murder and malicious damage when he appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on August 7, 2025. Conteh is charged with killing Andrew Mansaray at Tokeh Village Peninsula on February 16, 2025, during a fight.

According to the charge sheet, Conteh is accused of killing Mansaray and willfully damaging Francis Lebbie’s three thousand new Leones Bluetooth music set. According to Lebbie’s testimony, Conteh showed up with a gang of armed associates on the day of the incident, causing chaos and upsetting nearby businesses. He explained how they damaged stores, including his own, using cutlasses, knives, and broken bottles.

Lebbie described escaping the scene on a motorcycle to inform Mr. Momoh, the community headman, and the police about the incident. Later on, he found out that someone had been killed close by. His police statement, designated exhibit F1-15, was presented as evidence in court.

The proceedings were postponed for additional questioning during defence attorney J. Fofanah’s cross-examination. Because of the seriousness of the charges, Magistrate Fornah refused to grant Conteh bail. He directed that Conteh be placed under remand at the Freetown prison. Further investigation of the case is planned for August 14, 2025.
