Africell Celebrates 100% COVID-19 Vaccinations

By Shadrach Aziz Kamara

As part of the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), one of the biggest mobile companies in Sierra Leone, Africell (Africell-SL) has on Friday 8th April 2022 celebrated One Hundred Percent (100%) COVID-19 Vaccinations for their staff.

The celebration was held at the company’s headquarters in Wilberforce, Freetown.

In his opening remark, the Chairman for the occasion, John Conteh, started by thanking all for graciously attending the celebration and more especially to the staff of Africell-SL for their role in attaining the 100% COVID-19 Vaccination coverage, noting that it’s a coincidence that the largest department completed their vaccinations on Thursday 7th April 2022.

“As far as our plans as a company [are] concerned, Africell virtually every staff of every department have been fully vaccinated,” he said.

He furthered that for them as a company, it’s a worthy celebration, adding that it’s a goal that they have committed themselves to by the end of the first quarter of this year. Conteh said he is glad that they have achieved it.

The Human Resource Manager of Africell-SL, Patricia Janga, said that as a company they have done a lot, noting that they have been pushing, talking, encouraging, advising and motivating their colleagues to see a reason why they must be vaccinated. She thanked all the staff for the achievement.

The Human Resource Director, Andrew Fatorma, congratulated the Commercial Department of Africell-SL for the feat, noting that the success of the company can get nowhere without them.

In his keynote address, the Managing Director of Africell-SL, Shadi Gerjawi, also congratulated all the staff of Africell-SL for their One Hundred percent vaccinations, adding that vaccination will help them protect themselves, their families, customers and loved ones. He continued by encouraging other companies to emulate a good example of Africell-SL.

“Unfortunately, we will not enjoy the cake that [has been] served, but we will celebrate it and say happy Ramadan Mubarak to everyone,” he lamented.

The Africell MD thanked everyone that pushed hard to get the vaccinations done, adding that he had been going office to office explaining to the staff so that they will see the reason why the vaccinations are good for their health. He maintained that most of them were complaining of various illnesses, adding that he is now happy because the company staff has fully completed their 100% vaccinations and since then they haven’t complained of any side effects.

The cutting and sharing of cake with the MD and various departments climaxed the event.
