All Peoples Congress eastern grassroots coordinator Kadiatu Sesay is on the run. Madam Sesay, an active grassroots member, has expressed concern about several attacks, detention, and threats from Sierra Leone police and members of the ruling Sierra Leone People Party supporters. Speaking with this medium, Mr Mohamed Barrie, public relations officer for the All Peoples Congress Party East District, stated that Madam Kadiatu’s human rights have been violated numerous times.

In response to that attack, Madam Kadiatu actively condemned the act and criticised the police. She was beaten, detained, and given strict warnings to stop what the police perceived to be subversion. Mr Barrie also narrated the arrest of the organised secretary of the APC in North Abubakar, aka DJ Boxx, a close friend of Madam Kadiatu, he said that Boxx was arrested by a joint operation between the Guinean authorities and the Sierra Leone security forces for allegedly involving in the fail coup on November 26th, 2023, Madam Kadiatu became angry and went on a rant criticising the government, as she was talking with people on the arrest of DJ Box in a local restaurant, She did not have an identity card, so they questioned her about her speech.  She became frustrated and secretly recorded the officers’ actions on her cell phone. She was arrested and asked to give and unlock her phone to the police, but she refused and was violently treated.

A police letter revealed that she exchanged messages with Abubakar Boxx, aka DJ Boxx. Mr Barrie stated that Madam Kadiatu was accused of inciting “rebellion.” She was on a handoff for more than two hours before being left to sleep almost naked on the wet floor. She was humiliated in the police cell, which was filthy, humid, and dark, with no bed, plumbing, or window, and was infested with mosquitos. She was detained in despicable conditions for more than three weeks before being released on bail with the assistance of her attorney.

Mr Barrie concluded that hundreds of APC supporters who were arrested before and after the elections, as well as during other protests or disturbances, are either in jail or missing despite several calls for their release. “Madam Kadiatu may have fled because the police, supposed to protect us, failed us due to political patronage, and I hope she will not return to Sierra Leone due to fear for her life”.
