Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba, past week, presented a Deed of Gift of Lands at Hill Station to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkey for the construction of their respective embassies.
Presenting the land documents and conveyances to the heads of the various missions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s conference room, Minister Kabba reiterated the government of Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral ties with its international partners, adding that the establishment of their physical presence in Sierra Leone through the construction of an embassy demonstrate the high-level of bilateral ties with Sierra Leone.
The Minister underscores the enormous bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the area of trade and Investment, global peace and security. The Foreign Affairs Minister thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for empowering the Sierra Leone Armed Forces with technical training to counter terrorism and external aggressions, and for their move to invest in the health sector.
Ali Elhaji, Charge d Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, thanked the Government of Sierra Leone for the presentation of a suitable land to construct their Embassy. This, he said, will go a long way in easing people’s movement, trade, cultural and development programs between Sierra Leone and Saudi.
The Turkish Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Sibel Erkam, described Sierra Leone as a beautiful country with lots of cultural heritage. She thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for fast-tracking their request to have land for the establishment of an embassy.
They also promised to start the construction process, as the Minister looks forward to the commissioning of their respective embassies.
